The company Valerie keeps

Remember the 3Ms of Miss World 2013 in Bali which include Megan Young, Miyako Tanaka and Malene Sorensen? They formed a friendship so strong that they held up each other emotionally all throughout the competition. This year, Miss Philippines Valerie Weigmann has also her own trio. And I would christen them VET – standing for the first letters of the members’ names – Valerie, Egzonita (Ala) and Tatjana (Maul).

But there are more. Outside of her roommate Miss Germany and Miss Netherlands, Valerie is also fond of Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss, Miss India Koyal Rana and Miss Finland Krista Haapalainen. Whenever they find themselves in each other’s company, it’s like sorority sisters are suddenly reunited.

And I love it that our Queen continues to spread her wings by the day. Aside from members of the successful Yellow Team (of which she is a part of), she has also established friendly ties with several other delegates – the Asian bloc, the Latina cliques and the African jewels.

Being friendly is really second nature to Valerie. And she is proudly showing the true warmth of the Filipina every step of the way. ;-)
